Healthy Chocolate Banana Smoothie

  • 2 tsp cacao powder or unprocessed, organic dark chocolate powder (100% cocoa if Whole30)
  • 1/2 banana
  • 5 ice cubes (add more ice for a thicker smoothie)
  • 1/4 tsp Chia seeds
  • 1 1/4 cup filtered water
  • 2 tbsp molasses (substitute 1/4 cup apple juice if Whole30)


  1. Blend all ingredients until you get a smooth consistency.

  2. Use fewer or more ice cubes and molasses (or apple juice) until you reach the thickness and sweetness you are looking for.

  3. If you are using solid chocolate, place it in the freezer for 15 minutes before blending.


  1. For added protein, add a scoop of protein powder. A chocolate flavored powder would go nicely with this recipe.
