Owning an Instant Pot or Air Fryer may seem like the latest craze, but trust me, these two small kitchen appliances are going to be around for a while. I highly recommend you jump on the bandwagon and get them. Everyday more and more quick, easy and delicious recipes are being shared on social media and in kitchens everywhere.
This powerhouse small appliance boasts 7-in-1 functions: Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Rice Cooker, Saute/Browning, Yogurt Maker, Steamer and Warmer. My favorite is the pressure cooker function which speeds up cooking time and keeps meats moist, not dried out like they can get in the oven.
You can find recipes that convert slow cooker or crockpot meals so you can make the same meals in less time with the pressure cooker function. While I loved my slow cooker, sometimes the house would smell like what I had cooked for days. The pressure cooker is quick and contains the cooking smells so it’s no longer a problem.
Clean up is easier with the Instant Pot. There’s only one appliance to clean. You know those recipes that call for a pan to brown the meat first, then move it to a crockpot to finish cooking? I can sear my meats in the Instant Pot, then switch it over to the pressure cooker function to finish cooking. Same thing with recipes that call for sautéing onions, garlic, peppers first, then transferring them to a crockpot. The Instant Pot has a saute function that takes care of that. Easy peasy!

We had family over today and I overheard my husband raving to them about our Air Fryer. When I bought it he said, “What, another appliance?” Well, now HE’s the one who loves it and uses it the most. He practically lives off the Trader Joe’s breaded chicken tenderloins.
The Air Fryer is quick to heat up. No more waiting 10 minutes for the oven to pre-heat to 400 to cook just three chicken tenders. Cooking time is reduced. The instructions for my husband’s favorite chicken tenders say to cook at 400 for 15 to 20 minutes. With the air fryer, it takes 3 minutes to pre-heat to 390, then another 10 minutes to cook. They come out crispy and perfectly cooked. No added cooking oil needed. You’ll find it’s the same with fries, mozzarella sticks and anything else you cook in the deep fryer.
And like the Instant Pot, it’s easy to clean.
I want to make one quick mention to my Mom. She’s the one who introduced me to the Air Fryer when we visited her over Thanksgiving. She made fries and told us all about the foods you could make in it. I thought the same as my husband at the time: I didn’t need another appliance. Sorry, Mom, you were right.
